Book of Memories for Henrietta Willey

Henrietta's homemade soup and rolls would greet my mom and I as we returned home from a long long day at the Hood River Memorial hospital My dad had suffered a heart attack and was in the hospice room at the hospital. We were so tired when we got home and the love we felt from the wonderful gift Henrietta gave to us each evening just filled my heart with such Gratitude We have many many wonderful memories of Henrietta ,Fred ,Jim and Bill but this memory just especially stands out to me

So sorry to learn that my dear friend "Henry" has passed. I lived down the hall from her at Down Manor and we had wonderful visits. She was a whiz at pinocle and just a wonderful friend. Her good nature and friendly spirit will be greatly missed.

Although we never had the pleasure of meeting Henrietta personally -- we heard many great stories about the Willey family from Bill and Karen. Just wished we would have been able to enjoy one of her famous pies! Our sympathy to Henrietta's family and friends.

It's been many years since I've seen Mrs. Willey, but she was always so nice and friendly. As a kid in Odell, our family bought our meat from her and Fred. She'd save pork rinds for us to cook up crunchy. We got to test the "boloney" or share a thick wiener before mom bought them. They were always fun and made us feel welcome. Son Bill always had fun with us kids, too. Like so many wonderful neighbors, the Willey's were a very nice couple who were a good part of what made growing up in Odell fun and memorable. We'll miss them. To Bill and the family, please accept my sincerest sympathy as you grieve your mom's passing. It hurts to lose our parents, but you know it's time to let them go. You were lucky to have had them as parents.

Henrietta was my aunt through marriage and I always enjoyed her company. Our family began having campout reunions in 1968. Uncle Fred and Aunt Henrietta came to most of them through the 70's 80's and 90's. I do always remember her superb cooking. When we came to their house in O'Dell she picked huckleberries and made pies for what was probably 60 or so people. I will miss her greatly.
